How to Offer Discounts and BOGO
You can offer discounts to your customers on the basis of buy-one-get-one free (BOGO).
It might not sound like much, but a discount like this can make all the difference to a player’s experience of your site. If you use BOGO to upsell a related competition, you incentivise people to buy not one, but two things from you. That’s not to be sniffed at.
Or, you can use BOGO within one particular competition: so, if they buy one ticket, they get another for free, to use here and there, on that competition. It’s just a nice little reminder that you got their back, and helps you to build trust.
Sold on the idea? Great. Here’s how to offer discounts.
⚡️ How To Add BOGO Discounts
1. Login to WordPress, and navigate to 'Products' in the sidebar
2. Select an existing competition to add the discount to (or make a new one)
3. In the ‘Product Data’ sidebar, go to ‘Discount Rules’:
4. You'll be directed to this page:
5. Here, you can disable or enable the Buy-One-Get-One-Free (BOGO) offer by clicking the first drop-down menu, next to ‘BOGO Offer Type.’
6. Once you click it, you’ll be able to choose the TYPE of offer: so, whether the customer is entitled to a free version of the same product, or something else.
This will bring up a few more options, relevant to the type of product you’ve selected.
BOGO for the Same Competition
If you want the free option to be part of the same competition, this is what you do:
1. Next to ‘BOGO Offer Type,’ select ‘Same Product’
2. Then you choose the ‘Buy Quantity’.
This refers to how many tickets the customer has to buy before they’re entitled to a BOGO. For example, entering ‘4’ here means it’s a buy-four-get-one-free competition.
3. Specify the ‘Get Quantity’. This refers to how many free items the customer gets, and works on the same principle as ‘Buy Quantity’.
4. You can automate the amount of time the discount runs for. Next to ‘Discount Start’ and ‘Discount End’, there are drop-down calendars to help you select this date.
5. Under that, you can specify particular times of day, and days of the week, too, if you want.
BOGO to Cross-sell to Another Competition
If you want to offer free tickets to a different competition (also called cross-sell), here’s how.
1. Next to ‘BOGO Offer Type,’ click ‘Select Product’. These options will appear:
2. Next to ‘Select Free Product’, you can then choose the different competition - the one that they get a discount on.
3. Then you choose the ‘Buy Quantity’. This refers to how many tickets the customer has to buy before they’re entitled to a BOGO. For example, entering ‘4’ here means it’s a buy-four-get-one-free competition.
4. Specify the ‘Get Quantity’. This refers to how many free items the customer gets, and works on the same principle as ‘Buy Quantity’.
5. You can automate the amount of time the discount runs for. Next to ‘Discount Start’ and ‘Discount End’, there are drop-down calendars to help you select this date.
6. Under that, you can specify particular times of day, and days of the week, too, if you want. Make sure you click ‘Update’ to save, whenever you can.
